Hail DCN Faithful

To the victor goes the spoils - and that my friends were the New Orleans Saints.

I knew it would be difficult to beat the Saints at home in a NFC Championship charged game. But to lose in such a way makes the pain that much more difficult. Five turnovers and you are still in position to pull off the upset - number six was just too much. It is one thing to get beat by your opponent, but to give it away with turn overs - C'mon Man! I believe the 41-0 drubbing at the hands of the NY Giants in 2000 was much less painful. The Vikings were dominated from the opening possession and Moss pouted through the entire game. That and it was ten years ago and that scar has healed up rather nicely.

As life long Viking fans we can add this loss to a list that is starting to set Viking fans apart from other fans in the NFL. There is no question if you are talking with a fan on any NFL team they all have stories and can remember a crushing defeat. But the Vikings are starting to set standard for inflicting a higher level of pain on their fans.

I was not in town for the game but from the numerous accounts I have received from the DCN faithful - Gerstle's was packed and crowd was on the edge of bedlam - only to have a familar haunting pain return.

2009 is over and done. I am glad the SB and the 2009 season is over. The Vikes had a great year, but once again came up short of expectations. It is time to look forward not in the rear-view mirror. I am not going to get drug into the Number 4 debate. I hope he does come back - even at 40-41 with no training camp he is better than the other two options on the field. But we will have we will have to wait and see.

Checking the schedule for 2010 - Chicago looks to be the closest road game next year for a potential road trip.

Many thanks to the great staff at Gerstle's they did an excellent job this year - and thanks for giving away the authentic jerseys at half time.

Now that we have moved into the off season - the DCN will be meeting and planning for the 2010 campaign. More news to come and be on the look out for an official DCN newsletter in your mailbox in the upcoming months.

P.S.

It is no secret that the DCN website has fallen into neglect. We will be taking action to update all of the site and make this the location to keep up with everything going on with the DCN. This along with the DCN Facebook page will help keep all of us connected.
